Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil (simply known as Kick Buttowski) is an American animated television series created by Sandro Corsaro and produced by Disney Television Animation. The series is about a young boy named Clarence Francis "Kick" Buttowski who aspires to become the world's greatest daredevil with the help of his loyal friend, Gunther. It was the fourth Disney XD original series and the first such animated series. The show premiered on February 13, 2010, exactly one year after Disney XD launched, with two episodes airing the first day. The series premiered on Disney Channel Asia on May 28, 2010.[1] There are two 11-minute segments per show. The show uses Toon Boom Animation software. There are also some 3D-animated elements. Many of the characters and situations were based on Corsaro's childhood growing up in Stoneham, Massachusetts.[1] 52 episodes were produced in total.[2] On December 2, 2012, Disney XD canceled the series after two seasons and announced that the show is not being renewed for a third season. The series then became available on the streaming service Disney+ on April 9, 2021.
The comedy series has attracted several other notable guest stars for its second season, including: professional skateboarder Tony Hawk as Hush, the sarcastic manager of Skidzeez skate and bike shop; Ed O'Neill ("Modern Family") as Kick's grandfather and a former military spy; Will Forte ("Saturday Night Live") as Kick's longtime rival, Gordon "Gordie" Gibble, a spoiled kid from West Mellowbrook; Rico Rodriguez ("Modern Family") as intimidating score settler Luigi Vendetta; Debbie Reynolds ("Singin' in the Rain") as sweet old lady Mary Van Der Death, who lives in a creepy mansion overlooking Mellowbrook; and "SportsCenter" anchor Jay Harris as charismatic and quick-witted Brick Bristol, host of TV's unbeatable game show Faceplant!
DisneyXD.com's popular game "Loco Launcho" for the series spawned the release of the "Kick Buttowski: Loco Launcho" app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Since its launch on the App Store in February 2011, the game has become an instant hit, ranking in the top ten among all free apps and scoring 1.7 million downloads to date. In support of the new season, the high energy game will add all-new levels, allowing players to help Kick reach new heights, perform extreme stunts and achieve the ultimate daredevil jump.
Big Mouth: Kick and Gunther become sidekicks to Mouth after they seek his help to attend a live TV broadcast. Last Fan Standing: Kick can't get a wink of sleep when Wacky Jackie and Cousin Kyle compete over who is his #1 fan and throw him a celebration in honor of his latest stunt.
